Systems Engineer - Platform Management & Control

We currently have a vacancy for a Systems Engineer - Platform Management & Control at our site in Scotstoun.

Due to work on the Type 26 Programme, the latest Frigates being built for the Royal Navy and also recent contract wins in the export market BAE Systems engineering team are currently expanding their systems engineering team.

The purpose of this role is to assist with the development of the Type 26 Platform Monitoring & Control systems and integration within the Type 26 Platform and management of the PMS supplier. The suitable candidate should have systems engineering background/experience but not necessarily from a maritime environment. Ideally you will have a good knowledge of systems engineering processes and lifecycles.

Your main responsibilities as a Systems Engineer will involve:

PMC Subsystem ownership - working with stakeholders across type 26 and customer to ensure what is being designed and procured meets expectations and requirements

Managing control and instrumentation parts assignment and end solution across the platform

Working with Supply Chain to produce Statements of Work and Change Requests to support the ongoing development of the PMS solution

Liaison with Stage 1 and Stage 2 Platform design teams and the Combat Systems Shared Network Infrastructure team in order to ensure the PMS solution is integrated within the overall Type 26 Design

Review of supplier documentation and attendance at supplier design reviews and acceptance tests

Your skills and qualifications:

Previous systems engineering / Engineering Design experience is essential

Knowledge of Control and Instrumentation systems and equipment or knowledge of engineering design lifecycle if not from a C&I background

Knowledge of Marine or electrical systems is desirable with an awareness of wider ship systems such as Diesel Generators, Propulsion Motors and auxiliary systems

Awareness of Technical Specifications and requirements generation and requirements management

CAD skills such with tool sets such as Creo View and Solid Works is desirable
