Kent Police

Our joint vision is for Kent to be a safe place for people to live, work and visit.

By protecting the public from harm, we will allow our communities to flourish and by working with the public and partners, we will provide a first class policing service that is both visible and accessible.

We will retain neighbourhood policing as the bedrock of policing in Kent.

We will be there when the public need us and we will act with integrity in all that we do.

We currently have 5,800 officers, staff and PCSOs and 309 Special Constables (August 2017).

Last year we dealt with 891,078 calls for help, resulting in approximately 131,607 recorded crimes.

Our Serious Crime Directorate and Support Services Directorate ( IT, Transport, HR, Procurement and Estates) are provided in collaboration with Essex Police.

Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) Inspections which assess Police Efficiency, Effectiveness and Legitimacy (also known as PEEL), graded us as follows:

  • Effective at keeping people safe and reducing crime: Good
  • Efficient at keeping people safe and reducing crime: Good
  • Legitimate at keeping people safe and reducing crime : Outstanding
