The ECA is a leading trade association that represents and supports the interests of businesses and organisations involved in all electrotechnical and engineering services in design, installation, inspection, testing, maintenance and monitoring.

We are looking for someone with an electrotechnical background with a real enthusiasm for emerging technologies and curious to understand how these will deliver UK energy policy.  Furthermore you are inspired in shaping the future of our industry through best practice and the wider standard setting environment.

The role will be based in our London Office at St Katharine’s Dock, reporting to the Director of Technical.  The permanent position is full time, Monday to Friday, 9 am – 5 pm (35 hours per week). 

The ideal candidate will preferably be educated within an electrotechnical or engineering discipline to a technical or engineer level.  Extensive previous experience of energy and emerging technologies within building services, preferably in a contracting environment is essential.

While the focus of this opportunity is on the research, knowledge, communication and advisory skills you possess, it will be advantageous to have technical hands-on experience with these technologies as well.

The role will include:

  • Developing knowledge of emerging  technologies and the standards being developed for use in commercial, industrial and consumer focused industries.  Topics may include the evolution of energy storage; renewable technologies; smart grid / micro grid  internet of things, machine learning and others.
  • Understanding how these technologies will impact the industry and the future of electrotechnical design, installations and maintenance and work with colleagues to identify and highlight the potential impact.
  • Help members stay on top of developments across energy and emerging technologies and support them by creating a unique depth and breadth of comprehensive tools and information of a technical nature.
