As a Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Advisor, you will be involved in one of the most exciting engineering programmes in the UK, providing professional and accurate SHE advice to ensure safe systems of work in the construction and delivery of both Astute and Dreadnought Submarines.

Your main responsibilities as a SHE Advisor will involve:
Ensuring that there is timely and consistent advice, support, coaching and governance of SHE standards and legislation to support all non-build delivery activities across the organisation
Supporting in the development and embedding of an improved safety culture in the business across all submarines sites and support the SHE improvement programme
Supporting the production of quality audits and investigations, and produce evidence and reports
Ensuring professional and accountable interface with all stakeholders including all functional leads, regulators, contractors and customers
Ensuring all applicable aspects of the Safety Health and Environment Operational Plan and Strategy is delivered to schedule across all submarine sites
Providing support to the investigation of accidents, incidents and non-conformances, producing comprehensive reports with root cause analysis
Your skills and qualifications:
Nebosh Certificate or equivalent NVQ in health and safety
Previous experience of working as a SHE professional in a heavy manufacturing/ engineering environment
Working knowledge of SHE Regulations, Approved Codes of Practice and Guidance
Demonstrable experience of driving safety culture and safety improvements
Investigation and Report writing experience
Previous experience of working in a Manufacturing or Production environment
Ability to deliver training / coaching
Working towards Chartered Membership of IOSH or equivalent professional membership

Salary: £35,576 +

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.
The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.
