We are a world leader in missile and missile systems looking for an enthusiastic Business Manager to join the Software Engineering function in the UK, working across all aspects of workload, resourcing and fiscal management within a challenging engineering environment. You will be working to shape the future of Software Engineering, and prepare it for the business challenges of the next 20 years.
The Role
Working closely with senior colleagues in the UK and France, you will be coordinating the efficient management of workload forecasting, resource management and financial management to ensure the business is supported in delivering both its current and future commitments.
Specific responsibilities will include:
  • Through effective stakeholder management, create and maintain a realistic plan for the workload, both in the UK and across the UK/French Centre of Excellence
  • Establish, maintain and deliver a sustainable resourcing strategy and plan, resilient to the changing needs of the business and to the need to update skills and capabilities.
  • Accordingly, and working with a variety of stakeholders, develop an enduring outsourcing approach by identifying opportunities and establishing long-lasting relationships with key suppliers in the software domain.
  • Identify and report any gaps between workload resourcing levels.
  • Support the delivery of formal outsourcing agreements and monitor their spend
  • Ensure effective financial management of the functions budgets.
What’s in it for you?
  • This is a great role for an enthusiastic individual looking to improve their business knowledge and experience within the engineering domain.
  • You will be working with the management teams in both the UK and wider international Software Engineering organisation, ultimately supporting the development of safe, secure and reliable products that our customers can rely on. Consequently there may be the opportunity to travel both within the UK and to our sites in France and Italy.
  • We offer a supportive working environment with the opportunity to develop your skills at an exciting time for Software Engineering in the wider business.
  • MBDA, a world leader in missiles and missile systems, is a multi-national group with 10,000 employees on industrial facilities in France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States.
  • With some of the most sophisticated technology in defence, MBDA is Europe’s leading guided weapons company and with this in mind we continually look to broaden our existing talent base whilst maintaining a strategic edge, by exploiting new markets and new applications for our world-class technology base.
  • Our success is based on the dedication of our people and we strive to offer each and every employee an enjoyable, challenging and rewarding career.
  • Our work is complex, challenging and innovative. It takes a range of professionals across the full engineering and commercial spectrum to carry it out.  Whatever field our people specialise in, they all share the same mind-set: a drive to make things work better and to redefine the established standards.
What’s great about the team?
  • Operating with the international management team provides great opportunities to exchange ideas and best practice with colleagues from other MBDA sites across the UK, France, Italy & Germany; and with similar companies in the defence community.
What are we looking for?
  • You will be enthusiastic, and have the energy and resilience to try out new ideas, and to ‘sell’ new approaches to the organisation
  • You will be a great communicator and influencer, and favour a collaborative, open approach. You will be comfortable influencing at senior levels
  • You will have the ability to establish clarity in the presence of conflicting, complex needs
  • You will be capable of developing long term collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
What would you get?
