Configuration & Change Manager

Would you like to play a key role in delivering improvements for the T45 Programme? We currently have a vacancy for a Configuration & Change Manager at the Portsmouth Naval Base.

As a Configuration & Change Manager, you will be providing strong leadership, direction and inspiration to the team delivering the change management & configuration service, enabling them to deliver and improve the service against challenging targets, underpinning the T45 safety case.

This role will provide you with excellent career progression opportunities and you will be fully supported in your development within BAE Systems.

Your main responsibilities as a Configuration & Change Manager will involve:

Exercising leadership and management of the change & configuration management team, including scheduling, performance management, personal development and succession planning

Functioning as a senior member of the Warship Technical Authority team, thereby supporting the transition of the team into full Common Support Model implementation and compliance

Liaising directly with the wider enterprise, including customer communities on configuration management issues

Maintaining and implementing the Configuration Management Plan for the Type 45 WTA

Maintaining an accurate configuration baseline for each Type 45 vessel

Delivering the Support Data Pack (SDP) to agreed quality and timescales for In-Service Platforms and progressive improvement of the timeliness of this service

Managing and maintaining the T45 Lifed Items Registers and the T45 Software Register, together with progressive improvement of this area

Setting policy and exercising governance for engineering change & configuration management

Your skills and qualifications:


Project management experience

Team Leader / Management experience within technical environment

Awareness of Configuration Management standards, principles and processes and their application

Experience of toolset and process requirements definition, management and testing


Naval Ships / Defence / MOD background

Good understanding of both product safety and SHE management systems

You will be able to operate and influence in a matrix environment, being flexible, yet firm when required. You will be able to effectively manage internal suppliers, developing the relationship whilst driving delivery as an intelligent customer. You will be able to resolve conflict under pressure of delivery.
