Would you like to play a key role in the design team working within the Site & Facilities Department? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Designer at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

As a Senior Designer, you will be responsible for seeing designs through from conception to completion. The Site & Facilities Department are a strategic partner to the business and an integral part of its success by ensuring it has well maintained, secure and safe facilities that add business value. We provide high performing, affordable Site, Estates & Plant Maintenance services whilst ensuring availability and reliability of plant, equipment and facilities to meet demands for business performance whilst also appropriately managing the obsolescence of our facilities/plant/equipment.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to progress within BAE Systems due to significant expansion taking place across the site.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Designer will involve:

Being responsible for producing, maintaining and updating architectural, building services and REVIT drawings to a high and consistent standard

Producing, maintaining and being responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of all CAD drawings and databases

Managing and issuing drawings to senior management, project engineers and the clients upon request

Maintaining MEP layouts and asset layers on master CAD drawings

Carrying out survey work to produce accurate architectural drawings and record existing building services

Providing CAD drawing assistance to the site and facilities projects team, onsite MEP engineers, clients and external consultancy services on both existing and new schemes

Providing detailed drawings from redline sketches for site and facilities projects team and onsite MEP colleagues responsible for building services equipment installations and maintenance

Performing self-verification and checking of own work for completeness and quality

Your skills and qualifications:


Knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT packages to support building information modelling (BIM) workflows

Experience of supporting building surveys to accurately produce architectural floor plans including recording of existing services

Knowledge of drawing and document control


Knowledge of drawing design and knowledge of construction teams

Experience of working within a site/building project management environment

Experience of utilising Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, MS Office 2007 and Project
