Senior Buyer/Senior Buyer Specialist
Would you excel in a challenging procurement role within Electronic Systems? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Buyer/Senior Buyer Specialist at our site in Rochester.
As a Senior Buyer/Senior Buyer Specialist, you will be responsible for the management of a supplier or group of suppliers for a particular business area or product/commodity group. You will maintain strong relationships with suppliers, internal project teams and functions to ensure that the requirements of the business are satisfied, and that the future relationship with the supplier is understood and managed effectively.
This role will provide you with the opportunity of gaining fantastic exposure to the wider business whilst building a strong internal stakeholder network.
It will also provide the chance to really influence high profile, long term programmes from an early stage having a direct impact.
Your main responsibilities as a Senior Buyer/Senior Buyer Specialist will involve:
Receiving requisitions and demands, negotiating with suppliers, and processing Purchase Orders, Purchase Order Amendments and/or Purchase Agreements in accordance with Procurement processes and procedures, and the requirements of the business
Negotiating Terms and Conditions, Price Agreements and other contractual documents with suppliers, and resolve most areas of conflict
Maintaining strong, effective relationships with suppliers that are capable of withstanding set-backs, and be able to resolve relationship and performance issues
Understanding the budget requirements for the Purchase Orders you are responsible for, and to support achievement of these requirements, as well as identifying opportunities for cost reduction/avoidance through effective negotiation with the supplier
Understanding and communicating key performance indicators for the suppliers you are responsible for, and be able to engage with and address issues at a senior level within the supplier organisation
Understanding and supporting the implementation of corporate Procurement processes (Strategic Supplier Management, Sub-Contract Management, and Commodity Management) as appropriate to area of responsibility
Assisting to train/coach junior members of staff on Procurement processes and procedures and support audits of these, including supporting the implementation of improvement plans
Acting as an independent interface between suppliers and the business, demonstrating effective relationship management skills
Your skills and qualifications:
Demonstrable experience in a procurement role (ideally in a manufacturing environment)
Degree level/ HNC/ HND/ qualification in Business Studies or equivalent
Proficient IT user (ERP/ MRP systems, Microsoft packages)
Ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders of various levels
MCIPS or studying towards desirable
Aerospace/ defence industry experience desirable
