An opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Quality Assurance Manager to lead the Quality Assurance Engineering team as they provide professional quality support to the Manufacturing team in the UK. This is a particularly exciting phase in the North West as, due to an increasing workload, Manufacturing have recently transferred to a new facility.
What will you be doing?
Act as the focus for Improvement and Quality related issues within the UK Manufacturing management team forum. Provide an independent visibility and assurance that manufacturing and related processes are applied across all projects. Provide professional support and advice on all aspects of quality within UK Manufacturing. Work with Manufacturing UK to identify sustainable Process Improvements to existing methods and processes and provide support to facilitate their implementation. Support the UK Manufacturing Management team in the identification and reduction of project risks or problem areas / issues associated with process application, process effectiveness or compliance. Support improvement activities within Manufacturing UK in accordance with the Manufacturing Improvement Plan.
Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing UK Quality, responsibilities include management of the Quality Assurance Engineering Team to deliver the following activities:
Management Support
Provide technical support, insight and advice to UK Manufacturing senior management team on matters related to process assurance & quality
Provide professional support and advice on all aspects of quality within the Manufacturing & AIT Operations and Engineering departments.  Apply quality expertise to critical business issues to support business excellence, continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. Provide quality assurance support to Manufacturing UK in support of manufacturing excellence including development and delivery of quality awareness and other process and quality-related training. Provide support and focus to nonconformance management and the adoption of Quality Engineering techniques and communication paths in problem solution.
Process Assurance
Ensure MBDA BMS is correctly tailored to and implemented in company production programmes, and provide the right support to improve the efficiency of processes and functioning used by Manufacturing UK. Deploy the MBDA cohesive Defect management system.
In conjunction with functional management & the Product Assurance Manager, work to identify project risks or problem areas / issues associated with process application, process effectiveness or compliance. Assess the impacts on quality. Close the Quality Assurance loop by audit/survey both on product and process.
Monitor Certification stamp holders on behalf of the Head of Operations to ensure their continued competency.
Internal interface Propose and implement with Fr & It Manufacturing Quality a common quality view on manufacturing and maintain the relevant dashboard,
Customer Satisfaction
Within manufacturing and related engineering operations, interface with the Customer (DQAFF) representatives and maintain an effective interface with Product Assurance.
Team Development
Support teams to enhance business processes and compliance.
Improve individual & organizational capability by developing the competencies & technical knowledge of others in the team

Who and what we are looking for from you?
  • Ideally qualified to minimum HNC/HND in relevant subject.
  • Quality professional, experienced in process-based integrated management systems & business improvement in an engineering / manufacturing environment
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages (PowerPoint, Word and Excel)
  • Quality Audit experience required
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of EN9100/AS9100
  • < > Good planning and organising skills to ensure multiple tasks are prioritised and monitored to deliver set objectives
  • Capability to identify sustainable business improvements & ensure effective implementation
  • Ability to build individual & organisational capability by developing competencies & technical knowledge of fellow team members

  • Ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels of the organisation
  • Highly self-motivated and demonstrate a determination and persistence to deliver results despite obstacles and setbacks
    Some travel (both UK and international) will be required
