Would you like to work as part of the Weapon Systems UK (WSUK) senior leadership team responsible for contributing towards the achievement of the company's strategic goals and overall business aims? We currently have a vacancy for a Head of Operations at our site in Barrow.
As a Head of Operations, you will organise, carry out and control specialist activities and resources to support operational delivery in line with quality and SHE requirements. The role involves the day-to-day management and leadership of WSUK Barrow-in-Furness manufacturing operations, which includes; manufacturing engineering, capital project management, production planning & material control, site facilities, maintenance, IM&T and security.
This role provides you the opportunity to join a growing business area within BAE Systems with a wide range of exposure across all stakeholder levels.
Your main responsibilities as a Head of Operations will involve:
Acting as the site foci for Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People (SQCDP) performance by guiding and supporting the teams to excellence in all areas, through strong leadership skills
Managing the deployment of Business Management Processes, in a manner that engages and involves all of the Operations team and where appropriate, support functions
Ensuring the coordination of resources available to meet and deliver against the production plan and delivery schedule, whilst ensuring SHE stays central to the task
Driving change to foster a culture of continuous improvement, lean and operational excellence that engages all employees
Being responsible for manufacturing operations, manufacturing engineering, capital project management, production planning & material control, site facilities, maintenance, IM&T and security
Engaging as part of the WSUK senior leadership team to align objectives with overarching business strategies and deliver agendas as defined by the IPT leads
Creating an environment that is oriented toward trust, open communication and creative thinking
Your skills and qualifications:
IOSH or preferably NEBOSH qualified
Degree within a Technical / Management discipline or equivalent
Experience working within a Manufacturing environment ideally, within a complex low volume, high value product portfolio
Demonstrable track record of delivering successful SQCDP performance
