As the economic heart of the UK, the City of London serves an important purpose for the nation. With thousands of workers coming to the area every day, this unique neighbourhood enjoys a 24/7 buzz that is further complemented by the exceptional social scene and tourist industry. Drawn by the lure of the City’s iconic architectural structures such as the Gherkin and a rich history that includes Leadenhall Market and the Old Bailey, this dynamic borough enjoys a pace of life that is quite exceptional.
The City of London Corporation takes responsibility for a large proportion of fascinating buildings. With each property providing its own unique challenges, we rely on our highly skilled building services team to maintain their functionality, and it is here that we need your input. Working under the guidance of a Senior Principal Engineer you will design and deliver a range of lift engineering challenges such as refurbishments, renewals and installations worth from £1k to £250k. From the first brief to the final completion of the project, you will offer high-quality services that are both within budget and deadline. Translating a client’s requirements into technical specifications, you will oversee each stage of the project including site inspections to ensure works are progressing accurately, and you will monitor the performance of contractors and consultants. You will also play an important role in tender processes, and you will advise clients on maintenance matters.
To make the most of this multi-faceted role, you will be a collaborative team player with excellent networking, verbal and written communication skills. With a Building Services Engineering degree (or a related topic), you will either be working towards or have Professional Chartered status. With experience in an Engineering or Building Construction role, you will have a good knowledge of the relevant legislation and a working knowledge of the application of the CDM 2015 Regulations. Confident in your ability to supervise contractors and consultants, you will have the capacity to produce high quality risk assessments, feasibility and site progress reports. You will also be able to manage contract documentation, with exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities. If you would like to apply for this role at either Grade E or F, you will also have a relevant level of budgeting skills, experience of working on higher value and more complex projects and the capacity to lead on projects.
Our working environment is supportive and progressive. We want our people to achieve their full capabilities, so you will be given plenty of support as you take on career-defining challenges, with the scope to engage in further training and development opportunities. If you would like to explore what you are truly capable of – in a team that gets to work on inspirational projects – then we would be delighted to hear from you.
The closing date for the job is 12 noon on 25 June 2018.
