Would you like to be a part of a team designing and delivering Naval Training Solutions within Maritime Services? We currently have a vacancy for a Training Solutions Lead Engineer at our site in Broad Oak Technology Centre in Portsmouth to develop and update training for our customer the Royal Saudi Naval Forces.
As a Training Solutions Lead Engineer, you will conduct and lead Training Needs Analysis and Instructional Design tasks during development and support phases of the training lifecycle to agreed timescales and budget. Training activities will require the ability to work across all equipment design areas, sites and levels of management, seeking solutions to issues and working to a demanding and complex schedule.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to work with a wide range of stakeholders across the BAE Systems businesses and as such there will be some travel to Saudi Arabia to work directly with the customer.
Your main responsibilities as a Training Solutions Lead Engineer will involve:
Provide leadership and technical guidance to, and support experiential learning by, the Training Needs Analysis (TNA) and Instructional Design (ID) teams.
Conduct Training Needs Analysis in accordance with a recognised Systems Approach to Training.
Conduct Instructional Design in accordance with a recognised Systems Approach to Training.
Undertake and support Solution integration & acceptance activities.
Support the Technical Authority in the development and implementation of tailored TNA and ID processes.
Develop Customer and Stakeholder Relations.
Adhere to and promote BAE Systems Governance, Configuration and Change Control processes.
Provide Training related Subject Matter Expertise to Technical and Engineering authorities.
Support the procurement of training media through the provision of Subject Matter Expertise advice and guidance.
Support Training Planning activities through the provision of Subject Matter Expertise advice and guidance.
Your skills and qualifications as a Training Solutions Lead Engineer:
Have extensive experience of working within a training team comprised of training specialists within Defence or the wider Defence Industry sector and have demonstrated the ability to lead such teams
Have successfully completed a Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) Training Needs Analysis course (preferably Defence Academy Course No. 47 - DSAT Training Needs Analysis) or a similar training framework course
Have successfully completed a Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) Instructional Design course (preferably Defence Academy Course No. 98 - DSAT Detailed Design & Development) or a similar training framework course
Have extensive knowledge and experience of the successful application of the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT), including the DSAT Quality Management Standard (QMS) and DSAT guidance documentation, and working experience of how DSAT processes may be effectively tailored and their linkage to high level customer policy and their impact on the business.
Have a good working knowledge of Training/Engineering Lifecycle Management.
Have a sound understanding and working experience of the acquisition of training solutions.
Have a sound understanding of the naval/maritime training domain.
Knowledge and experience of collective training needs analysis and instructional design would be advantageous.

You will provide leadership and guidance to analysts within the team, and act as coach and mentor to new team members as they join. You will also provide TNA and ID advice and support to project leadership.
