Would you like to play a key role in the delivery of marine system integration activities for Naval warships? We currently have a vacancy for an Engineering Manager at our site in either Scotstoun or Filton.
As an Engineering Manager, you will be managing the physical integration issues on the projects, including developing strategies and policies for CAD development and design rules. You will also be involved with forward planning into the later phases of the project, ensuring the systems and processes are in place to efficiently progress the physical integration of the design.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to lead marine system integration activities for a range of Naval platforms from small boats to complex warships.
Your main responsibilities as an Engineering Manager will involve:
Managing the development of appropriate CAD policies, gain agreement with stakeholders and ensure implementation within the design teams; this will include identifying appropriate use of 2D and 3D modelling techniques, use of intelligent system diagrams, specification of naming and numbering conventions, etc.
Managing the development of physical integration strategies (e.g. service route strategy, that will support the development of an optimised design solution, taking into account the many conflicting design constraints)
Managing the development of design rules strategy, policy and repository that will be used within the project to control and manage rules
Capturing lessons learned on physical integration strategies on previous large complex projects and develop improved processes to be adopted on the Type 26 project
Liaising with the Physical Modelling team to support the development of 'early spatial design' and 'modularisation' strategies
The use of IT information systems to facilitate configuration control of the Bill of Materials (BOM) and management of parts and their associated information attributes that will support design integration and BOM strategy
Your skills and qualifications as an Engineering Manager:
Previous experience in design/operation of marine engineering systems
Understanding of various types of marine engineering power and propulsion/auxiliaries
CEng status or actively working towards
