Would you like to play a crucial role in the development of firefighting systems for the Royal Navy? We currently have a vacancy for an Electrical Engineer (Firefighting Systems) at our site in either Scotstoun, Filton or Portsmouth.
As an Electrical Engineer (Firefighting Systems), you will be assisting with the development of fixed firefighting systems in a maritime environment, providing design input to the subcontractor and assurance that the architecture and detailed design are fit for purpose.
This role will provide you with the chance to become a system specialist, as well as the opportunity to work on a range of Naval platforms from small boats to complex warships.
Your main responsibilities as an Electrical Engineer (Firefighting Systems) will involve:
Leading and mentoring others within the design team
Providing expertise in the electrical aspects of fixed firefighting systems to teams across projects, including the development of strategy for design tools, techniques and processes
Acting as the discipline focal point across all projects for electrical aspects of fixed firefighting systems tasks ensuring best practices are adopted across contracts
Ensuring commonality and quality of output deliverables
Checking all information, as defined in the quality plan, contract specification and regulatory issues (e.g. Lloyd Rules, Def Stan etc., Naval Authority, use of ANEP 77)
Assisting in identifying training and development requirements and skills gaps of the marine engineering function
Your skills and qualifications as an Electrical Engineer (Firefighting Systems):
Experience in the design of electrical control and detection systems or good working knowledge of electrical aspects of fixed firefighting systems gained from a relevant industry
Experience gained from a marine engineering environment
