Electrical Engineer - EMC
Would you like to play a unique role in the delivery of electromagnetic performance for submarine platforms? We currently have a vacancy for an Electrical Engineer - Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.
As an Electrical Engineer - EMC, you will be working within the Electromagnetics Department, supporting Royal Navy submarine programmes. You will be reporting into the EMC Test House Manager, supporting and carrying out engineering activities to ensure EMC evidence is obtained through EMC testing.
This role will provide you with the chance to develop your skills within electrical engineering, as well as the opportunity to become a specialist within the field of EMC. There will be ample opportunity for future career progression within the team, as well as the wider business.
Your main responsibilities as an Electrical Engineer - EMC will involve:
Working with a dedicated EMC team; evaluating the electromagnetic performance of the submarine platforms
Performing EMC testing both on-board and within a dedicated newly built electromagnetic test facility
Assessing boat electrical equipment for electromagnetic suitability and in particular its susceptibility failure modes
Fault finding and diagnostic work
Working with equipment manufacturers, alongside collating, assessing and reviewing EMC qualification evidence to address electromagnetic issues in a cost-effective manner
Preparing calculations to demonstrate that the electromagnetic environment is safe
Assisting the EMC facility manager in the day-to-day running of the facility
Your skills and qualifications as an Electrical Engineer - EMC:
Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline or equivalent qualification or experience
A background in an electrical discipline
Awareness of EMC qualification activities
Previous experience of working within an engineering organisation
Demonstrable experience from a testing background
