The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) are looking for an Electronics Engineering Technician to join the Antarctic and Marine Engineering team. The post holder would be responsible for managing the electronics workshops both in Cambridge and Antarctica.

We are looking for someone with proven practical electronics construction experience and the ability to interpret engineering drawings. You will need to manage your own time, as you will often work unsupervised.

This is an exciting opportunity to take your skills in Electronics to one of the most remote locations on the planet!


To support Engineering activities in Cambridge and Antarctica.


BEng or HND/HNC in Electronics Engineering.


- Managing the electronics workshops in Cambridge and Antarctica

- New electronics and light mechanical construction

- Electronic component construction

- Field season preparations

- Updating and organising engineering documentation

- Working in Antarctica

- Testing electronic circuits and assemblies

- Packing scientific cargo

- Any other duties as required by the Director
