Your programming skills could help protect London

Technology is evolving and opening more doors for policing. For the Met, it’s a chance to explore innovative systems that can help us protect the capital. As a Development Engineer (ICT), you’ll work on solutions for specialist projects, taking smart ideas from inception through to implementation. Using a broad range of technologies and strong programming skills, you’ll help make London a safer city.

As part of a highly skilled Development team, you’ll create niche solutions for some of the most sensitive and specialist parts of the Met. You’ll design small to medium IT systems and bespoke tactical software applications, handling design, modelling, prototyping, code production and implementation.  Once systems go live, you’ll provide third line support and help with complex fault analysis. That means solving problems on site, writing code and being part of a weekend/evening on-call rota.

You’ll join us in a secure environment where full configuration management is maintained at all times. Here, you’ll make the most of your expertise in building and repairing IT systems. With relevant experience and a BTec (or equivalent) in IT or Engineering, you’ll have the programming skills (ideally C# and SQL) to turn ideas into solutions. In return, we offer excellent training and the chance to build a career.

To apply, please visit our website to download a role specific information pack and click on the link to complete and submit the online application form.  You will also be required to submit a detailed CV.

Completed applications must be submitted by 23.55pm on Monday 30th July.

Failure to supply all the relevant documents will result in your application being terminated.

We view diversity as fundamental to our success. To tackle today’s complex policing challenges, we need a workforce made up from all of London’s communities. Applications from across the community are therefore essential.
