Engineering Manager - Infrastructure Governance
Would you like to influence and define governance processes and engineering capability for one of our submarine build and test facilities? We currently have a vacancy for an Engineering Manager - Infrastructure Governance at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.
As an Engineering Manager - Infrastructure Governance, you will be working within the Submarine Machinery Installation Test Establishment (SMITE), alongside other specialist engineering managers to ensure programme delivery and continued development of the facility. You will play a key role in driving engineering capability and defining processes relating to governance and assurance activities for the facility.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to work within a very unique facility, with the chance to see submarines in build. You will also have the chance to influence a variety of stakeholders, as well as implement new governance and assurance solutions and processes.
Your main responsibilities as an Engineering Manager - Infrastructure Governance will involve:
Being responsible for the development, production and upkeep of the engineering baseline (including systems and equipment etc.)
Taking responsibility for the facility's Safety Management System (SMS)
Holding delegated authority for engineering activities in the SMITE, including signing off any approvals for changes to the facility
Ensuring governance and safety arrangements are discussed and agreed with relevant stakeholders
Providing auditable records and evidence to show work has been completed in accordance with the relevant processes/standards, as well as ensuring the next phase of programme activities can commence within the specified timeframes
Being responsible for the development and promotion of the engineering capability in the facility
Providing technical guidance, as required
Your skills and qualifications as an Engineering Manager - Infrastructure Governance:
Degree or equivalent qualification or experience in a relevant engineering discipline
Chartered engineer or eligible to obtain chartered status
Experience with safety cases and production of ALARP justification
Demonstrable experience of delivering change/ defining processes
Facilities engineering/management experience
