You won’t just find our vulnerabilities.
You’ll future-proof them.
Here at HMGCC, we’re a centre of technical excellence. Using world-class tech, we develop unique communication systems to help safeguard the country. It means the work we offer is unlike any other. As a Senior Physicist, you’ll have the unique chance to tackle complex problems and work on world-class projects.
Forward-thinking and dedicated, you’ll look for vulnerabilities in our global systems and find ways to improve and secure them. As part of this, you’ll document your findings, provide proof-of-concepts and think of practical mitigations. You’ll also identify and evaluate technology and propose strategies for its adoption, while thinking about the long-term impact.
The role will see you liaising with a range of people, as you’ll actively seek feedback on ideas and contribute to project planning. With your expertise, you’ll even supervise more junior members of the team and offer mentorship. And where needed, you’ll have the opportunity to become part of a development team, helping to produce countermeasure products.
To join us, you’ll hold a degree in Physics, and you’ll also have a keen interest in electromagnetics, magnetics and optical systems. With a relevant background and working knowledge of analogue and digital electronics, you’ll devise and perform practical experiments and tests. Ideally, you’ll also have good knowledge of basic acoustic principles. But, more importantly, you’ll be a natural problem-solver with the ability to adapt to ever-evolving situations.
Our projects are complex, so you’ll also need to be comfortable with ambiguity to deliver the right outcome. It means you’ll need to keep up with all the latest developments, and confidently translate technical terms to non-technical colleagues. With this determination, you’ll become the go-to person for expert advice.
In return, you’ll take advantage of our creative environment and world-class training. And by helping ensure our Government’s communication systems are reliable and totally secure, you’ll receive the tools and development to become the best you can be.
