Summary of Role:
The Software Program Engineering Manager (SPEM) role will be responsible for delivering the latest Mission System Software Program using Agile methodologies within a Military DAOS environment. Up to and including test and validation on operational equipment and flight trials.
In addition the SPEM will ensure the system is delivered to contract on time and within budget, will support the Sentinel Mission System Software Manager and Software Design Authority and will lead several Scrum Teams in the Less Scrum format over multiple sites.

Main duties:
Work package management, including planning, tracking and reporting of key performance indicators of the work to be performed.
Responsible for the day to day management of the team and direct reports including resource planning, performance management, goal setting, appraisals, reward, recognition, timesheets authorisations.
Responsible for the management of various baselines within the engineering work package, including Requirements and Design baselines and associated configuration management.
Work closely with the Sentinel Mission System Software Manager to support Business Development and engage in key pursuits and Develop solutions that satisfy the requirements, cost, schedule constraints.
Facilitate complex problem solving initiatives through a high level of technical competence and the ability to think strategic solutions from the customers’ perspective.
Act as the interface from the project into key Product Teams to ensure that the customer and project requirements are fully understood and actioned.
Act as the interface to large projects, requiring complex financial arrangements in order to be realised. This may take many forms often involving sub-contractors and other interested parties. These arrangements inevitably lead to complex contractual arrangements.
The Position Holder must retain a clear focus on the project deliverables, and provide the Commercial Management teams with unambiguous advice between Project Teams and Customer to ensure that the ASTOR system meets all the relevant standards.
Identify project risks and opportunities, quantify and produce mitigation, capture and contingency plans.
All these duties will be carried out according to Raytheon best practice, templates and standards.

  • The successful applicant should be eligible for and be prepared to undergo the highest level of security clearance.


  • ITIL support experience


  • Minimum 2:1 Degree in a computer science or related subject
  • Professionally Registered IEEE Qualification
  • Certified Project Management Qualification.
