Senior Engineering Manager (In-Service Support)

BAE Systems is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager (In-Service Support) to join the team at our site in Weymouth, Dorset or Filton, Bristol. As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for managing multiple teams in delivering in-service and design change support to the MOD for in-service and in-build submarine combat systems.

You will be working closely with the MOD customer and internal stakeholders to identify further support opportunities, managing the development and delivery of integrated support solutions across in service and future system programmes.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the effectiveness and availability of in-service submarines, directly impacting the UK's defence programme.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Engineering Manager (In-Service Support)

will involve:

Lead and manage engineering teams across the UK, ensuring that they are deployed and skilled to meet the requirements of current and future in-service support contracts for the common combat system on Royal Navy submarines.

Ensure that future and current engineering support activities are compliant with BAE Systems' engineering policies and Operational Framework.

Lead on the design and implementation of integrated support solutions, liaising with build, support and design teams within BAE Systems such that support solutions meet requirements and are delivered to schedule, cost and quality.

Manage the maturity of future support solutions and ensure it is appropriate for the requirement and that technical risks and opportunities are captured.

Review and update support processes and procedures to reduce waste, improve efficiency and establish a dynamic and flexible support capability.

Your skills and qualifications as a Senior Engineering Manager (In-Service Support):

Essential:

Degree or HND level engineering qualification (or equivalent).

Broad experience in an engineering leadership/people management role.

Experience in the delivery of integrated in service support solutions within the defence equipment and support environment.

Extensive knowledge of MOD safety management systems, through life support processes and contracting mechanisms.

Desirable:

Experience of working in or with MOD equipment maritime support organisations.

Knowledge of product certification, qualification and certification activities.

Experience in a defence engineering support capacity.

Experience in the development of engineering and business processes.

Experience of developing business cases, technical proposals and estimating of work.

What we're looking for in you:

You will be able to demonstrate a detailed and comprehensive understanding of a number of engineering disciplines; whilst not an expert in all, you will be able to discuss and understand context and implications of technical issues across a range of engineering disciplines including functional safety and assurance, integrated logistical support and design assurance.

You will be a confident communicator with the ability to interact across multiple levels of both internal and external stakeholders, able to promote and share ideas across the business.

You will generate new ideas, and show initiative to resolve complex, specialist problems and issues.

Location: Weymouth or Bristol

Salary: Competitive

Benefits: Our employees receive an excellent benefits package which includes a competitive pension scheme, enhanced annual leave allowance and a Company contributed Share Incentive Plan. We also offer a range of additional benefits such as flexible working, an employee assistance programme, childcare vouchers, Cycle2work and many local and national employee discounts.
