Job Details

Our technology estate is very broad and deep: real-time control systems, robotics, vision systems, machine learning, natural language processing, simulation, data science, forecasting systems, routing systems, inference engines, big data and many more.

What you can expect:

As an Engineer in the 10X Team, you will work on a variety of projects – from writing complex applications for our award-winning customer website to working on our route-planning software, or writing crane and conveyor control software, or even user interface applications for our warehouse management system. You will be involved in the complete development lifecycle, from concept and design through to implementation, testing and deployment.

We offer the opportunity for you to gain practical software development experience using various technologies, for example, major programming languages and technologies such as Scala, AWS, TensorFlow,  Google platforms, Docker, Javascript, Python, embedded C for Arduino/ARM, Android and iOS. We also build systems using the latest digital signal processing and radio technologies.

Working in an informal environment with like-minded, smart and focused people, you will take up a hands-on role within our business, working on real-world and business critical projects, with a good balance between training and support, autonomy and flexibility.

You’ll also have the opportunity to interact with our international teams (based in Barcelona, Sofia, Krakow and Wroclaw).

What we look for:

You have or are expecting a 2:1 or 1st class degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science/Software Engineering, electronics, mechanical engineering or similar numerate degree, backed up by strong A-levels (or equivalent) and have demonstrable programming/prototyping ability.

Our engineering opportunities suit high achievers with analytical minds, who enjoy creative problem-solving, critical thinking, and seeing complex projects through from start to finish.

As well as looking out for the best and brightest, we’re also looking for people who reflect our values – people who can learn fast through experimenting; who are autonomous through taking ownership and driving innovation; who are collaborative and work well in high-performing teams. We value trust, honesty, and craftsmanship.

Essentially, if you’re talented and innovative, we’d love to hear from you!

What we can offer you:

Within our flexible work environment, we can offer technically stretching work, a competitive salary and share schemes. Benefits include a generous pension scheme, interest-free season ticket loan, free shuttle bus from Hatfield train station and, of course, healthy Ocado staff discounts (and free delivery) across our Webshops including GroceriesFetchSizzle and Fabled.

We also have Friday socials on the first Friday of every month, sports clubs such as badminton, running and table tennis (and much more), not to mention the Ocado Technology Academy for a packed schedule of courses, conferences and events such as discussion sessions, conference briefs and external guest speakers.
