Summary:

Are you interested in working for a new and developing sector of Nuclear research?

We are looking for a hard-working and passionate individual to lead our new Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation theme at the Nuclear AMRC Midlands facility in Derby. You will be at the heart of the Nuclear AMRC’s strategy for regional growth in electrical, control and instrumentation research.

As a Technical Lead, your role is to lead the strategy and delivery of the EC&I theme. EC&I is a new key theme for the Nuclear AMRC, which represents significant cross-sector research and development opportunities to enhance the nuclear supply chain’s competitive position. In this role, you will also provide regular reports to the Leadership team on EC&I activities and liaise with external stakeholders.

You will:

  • Have a good technical degree (engineering based) or relevant equivalent experience
  • Have experience of developing high-integrity EC&I systems for hazardous industries
  • Be able to continuously monitor and analyse data
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

About the Team

The Nuclear AMRC – Midlands Facility in Derby is a strategically important part of the University of Sheffield’s advanced manufacturing group. In this role, you will report directly to the Operations Director who in turn, reports to the CEO who is accountable for the Nuclear AMRC and ensuring that the Centre meets its mission in helping UK companies win work in the nuclear sector. The Nuclear AMRC, established in 2009, applies the same model of collaborative research to the nuclear supply chain. It has over 40 members, and helps UK manufacturers compete at home and worldwide for work in the energy sector. Both the AMRC with Boeing and Nuclear AMRC are part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, a consortium of seven leading manufacturing and process research centres backed by the Technology Strategy Board.
