Systems Engineer - Plymouth

Introduction:

We are looking for Systems Engineers to join our Plymouth team working on a new generation of ultra-precise motion sensing technology. These are key roles that will offer the right candidates new challenges in their core discipline along with excellent scope for growth and career development.

Part of the global UTC Aerospace enterprise, we are a stand-alone business employing just 280 with a world lead in control, navigation and guidance systems. Right now, we are developing a range of market-disrupting, ultra-precise devices that will redefine what is possible in platform control. 

What will you be working on?

You will be part of the team developing this new generation of technology, working on system design, devising, qualifying and implementing improvements and engineering for obsolescence. You are likely travel to UK and foreign sites to meet with customers, support product trials and review customer programmes.

Where will you work and live?

You will be based at our main offices on the northern fringes of Plymouth, just a few minutes’ drive from the edge of the Dartmoor national park.  You can choose to live in the city, with its shopping and night life, its vibrant Barbican area and famous Hoe and the recent redevelopment of the 19th century naval victuallers – the Royal William Yard, with its artists’ workshops, cafes and bars.  Or you could choose to make your home in the surrounding countryside and villages, along the beautiful coast or in the Dartmoor national park. Wherever you live, you will have easy access to the glorious beaches and beautiful landscape of both Devon and Cornwall - with activities such as sailing, surfing, cycling, climbing and walking all on your doorstep.

How do we help with relocation?

What do we need from you:

• Minimum 3 years' experience working in a Systems Engineering role on product design and development or qualification.
• Experience of the full new product introduction lifecycle (concept definition to product launch)
• A minimum of a 2.1 BEng in Systems Engineering or a similar Engineering discipline.
• What else would be useful:
• Mathematical modelling tools (e.g. Matlab)
• Inertial systems and measurement experience
• Model-based systems design
• Background in products incorporating Electronics, Firmware and/or Embedded Software
• International collaboration, multi-cultural team-working
