Research Fellow in Passive Radar Sensing

Full Time 

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £35,328 to £42,701 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

Applications are invited for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to work with Dr. Kevin Chetty on the EPSRC Research Project OPERA - Opportunistic Passive Radar for Non-Cooperative Contextual Sensing - at the UCL Department of Security & Crime Science. The post holder will be expected to carry out fundamental research in key aspects of short-range passive wireless radar to develop contextual sensing capabilities. The post will also involve regular travel between UCL and project partners at Bristol, Oxford and Coventry University for laboratory work and field trials.   

Key tasks include:

- Building-up the research groups’ existing software-defined radar prototype and antenna hardware;

- Implementation passive multi-static radar, and human micro-Doppler simulation models;

- Development of an experimental laboratory test bed for contextual sensing in a Healthcare environment;

- Investigating digital signal processing and machine learning algorithms for analysing and classifying recorded data.

Candidates must have a PhD (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant subject (e.g. electronic engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics etc). Knowledge of radar systems, signal processing and/or machine learning is highly desirable.
