The Role

The Electrical Controls Engineer is responsible for the lifecycle of the control systems for the low voltage electrical engineering services consisting predominantly of electrical supplies, internal resilient networks, automated switchgear and LV distribution networks across the estate. Other systems that are included are lighting & controllers, lifts & escalators, fire detection and electronic security and communications equipment. 

You will develop lifecycle strategies for these services, be responsible for their Parliamentary design guides and standards, and lead research into new and emerging technology areas. They will write briefs in their specialist area for their own and others’ projects, and undertake specialist improvement projects and feasibility studies up to several £m. 

The Person

The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:

  • Detailed understanding of, and post qualification experience as a designer of electrical controls engineering service infrastructures, with a record of successful completion
  • Ability to develop electrical engineering strategies, standards, design guidelines and briefs across a range of building services
  • Experience as an onsite representative overseeing site installations, monitoring, testing and commissioning complex electrical services and equipment

    Essential Qualifications

  • Relevant degree in building services, electrical or control/communications systems engineering
  • Chartered or working towards Chartered status
