Would you like to play a key role in the design and development of radar products? We currently have a vacancy for a Software Engineer at our site in either Portsmouth (Hampshire), Great Baddow (Chelmsford) or Cowes (Isle of Wight).

As a Software Engineer, you will be working as part of the Product and Training Services (P&TS) Engineering Function that delivers all design, development, support to manufacturing and in-service support of radar products. You will be working on state-of-the-art radar products across naval and/or land based platforms.

Radar is an exciting and unique engineering field, with increasingly sophisticated electronics, materials, and signal processing, leading to remarkable advances in the cost and performance of individual and networked radar systems. This role will provide you with the chance to develop as an engineer, with the potential for excellent career progression opportunities in the future.

Your main responsibilities as a Software Engineer will involve:

Supporting the maintenance and further development and enhancement of one or more real-time software and hardware subsystems for various radar products

Designing, reviewing, developing, testing, documenting, configuring and delivering real-time software products to the agreed standards and procedures using the specified requirements management and specification tools

Testing software products sufficiently to ensure all requirements have been met and that software product quality has been maintained

Investigating and resolving obsolescence issues and problems raised during any stage of the development lifecycle, including software and system integration, qualification, and in-service trials

Ensuring the relevant Maritime Services software-related processes are employed through all stages of the software development lifecycle

Participating in the estimating of bids to ensure that they capture all requirements, customer obligations and acceptance criteria, achievable solutions with acceptable levels of technical risk and conformance with company and product policies and standards

Your skills and qualifications as a Software Engineer:

Essential:

Degree or equivalent in Computer Science (or closely related discipline)

Knowledge of C or ADA programming language

Desirable:

Experience of UML or similar high level design methodology

Software coding integration and testing skills

What we're looking for in you:

You will be able to work effectively both independently, as well as within a team, with an honest and transparent attitude to the professional working environment.

Location: Portsmouth (Hampshire), Great Baddow (Chelmsford) or Cowes (Isle of Wight)

Salary: Competitive

Benefits: Our employees receive an excellent benefits package which includes a competitive pension scheme, enhanced annual leave allowance and a Company contributed Share Incentive Plan. We also offer a range of additional benefits such as flexible working, an employee assistance programme, Cycle2work and many local and national employee discounts.
