Would you like to play a key role in the design and development of radar products? We currently have a vacancy for an Electrical Design Engineer at our site in Cowes, Isle of Wight.

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be working as part of the Product and Training Services (P&TS) Engineering Function that delivers all design, development, support to manufacturing and in-service support of radar products. This is a technical role relating to the Electrical aspects of radar hardware design. You will undertake design and design maintenance tasks in respect of both new products and technology insertion into legacy products.

Your main responsibilities as an Electrical Design Engineer will involve:

Conducting a wide range of activities including feasibility studies, research, design, development and post design services, involving the full Engineering Lifecycle, to meet defined project or business requirements

Ensuring that work is undertaken in accordance with company, safety, environmental, contractual and local business processes, standards, procedures and documentation

Carrying out the design of AC distribution systems including sizing, generation, protection, UPS and control across a range of power levels up to 1MW

Carrying out the design of DC distribution systems including specification of power supplies, converters, including sizing, protection, and control

Carrying out the design of motor drives, control, and positioning systems

Specifying the design of data links, data protocols, networks and servicing the requirements of procured radio communications equipment

Carrying out EMC management and verification, including design verification using a combination of simulation, analysis, test techniques plus support to EMC test houses and customer installation

Drafting, vetting and editing technical reports or other documents to ensure that technical findings can be successfully communicated with recipients

Your skills and qualifications as an Electrical Design Engineer:

Essential:

Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering (or strongly related subject)

Desirable:

Electrical design/ development experience

Knowledge of operating in a defence or high safety integrity environment
