The Opportunity
MBDA has entered the next phase of its exciting evolution as a world class and dominant European missile company. The growing workload within MBDA has created exciting opportunities for experienced Software Engineers to participate in the development of test solutions, incorporating the latest best practice and technologies.
The Test Systems team is tasked with supplying a full range of test solutions, from circuit card test to overall Missile test, along with involvement in the development of Simulators and Field Support equipment. The test solutions are delivered for varied uses, including product development, production pass-out and in-service testing. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for Software Engineering professionals to apply technical skills across a range of test solutions responding to the functionality and performance requirements associated with testing and simulation of complex products.
The Role
The role involves development of test solutions across the full life cycle with participation in the initial concept and realisation of the final product, supporting integration of software onto the Test System and final integration with the product under test.
In this role you will be:
- Designing high quality software solutions to support testing of complex products, ensuring compliance with the test requirements.
- Implementing the designs, using modern development techniques and tools.
- Performing integration of the software onto the test equipment hardware.
- Performing integration of the test solution with the product under test.
- Proving the software with participation in the overall proving of the test solution.
- Resolving problems and performance issues identified during the integration phases.
- Working in collaboration within the Test Systems team and the prime design team in order to develop the most effective test solution.

- You will be working with teams in both the UK and wider international Software Engineering organisation, ultimately supporting the development of safe, secure and reliable products that our customers can rely on. Consequently there may be the opportunity to travel both within the UK and to our sites in France and Italy.

- The UK Test Systems team is a multi-disciplined dynamic, focused and agile team of about 100 engineers specialising in all aspects of Test Solution design, including hardware, software and embedded real-time systems. These skills are co-located providing an atmosphere of supportive cooperation and interdependence whose strengths are well placed to face the challenges of the future.
High performing teams need high performing and competent individuals. To be suitable for this role, individuals will be able to demonstrate a number of the following attributes:
- Software Engineering experience in the development of test solutions. Applicants with significant experience within another domain will also be considered.
- Strong ability to write software usinga procedural language e.g. : C / C++ / Java / Python / Ada
- Proactive self-starter able to take ownership of the software development whilst retaining a system level vision.
- Great communication skills with a strong ability for collaboration.
- Experience of Electronics test measurement techniques.
- Knowledge of Software configuration management tools and techniques.
- Understanding of standard communications and test equipment interfaces.
- Experience of developing real time software
