Job Details

SSE is excited to launch a new graduate programme within our Enterprise Energy Solutions Group (ESG) business, based in either Leeds or Egham.  This 12 month programme would suit a graduate with a keen interest in the Building Energy Management and Sustainability industry, and want to actively pursue a sales career.

Upon completion of the programme we will place you in a role that is most appropriate to your skills and attributes, ideally this will be a Project Sales Engineer based in one of our regional offices, with the opportunity to fulfil potential by quickly progressing through the organisation.

Why join SSE?

As one of the UK's largest energy companies, we're always keen to meet great talent who can support SSE’s growth in the energy industry and commitment to the UK’s green agenda.  As the largest generator of energy through renewable sources, a market leader in the electric vehicle (EV) evolution and a responsible employer with a key commitment to keeping the lights on; we can offer you the opportunity to make a real difference for our customers and the communities in which we operate.

What will I do on the programme?

Graduate Trainees will have 12 months intensive training and development, where you will be supervised and supported by our program manager and a team of professionals.  You’ll be assigned a mentor who will typically be a Senior Manager or Director to assist you in reaching your full potential.

During your programme, you will learn how to interpret a technical specification, develop a building control strategy and estimate a project from sales opportunity through to creating a successful bid proposal. After this time you will be allocated to another regional office where you will continue to be managed centrally. You will learn using a variety of methods using classroom, workshop, action learning, e-learning and self study.

You'll spend time developing your skills across different business areas and will take individual responsibility for real results at each stage. This will involve some travel to sites throughout the UK to gain practical exposure to different business areas.

What do I need to join?

In this role, you’ll ideally have an MEng or a minimum of a 2:2 BEng in mechanical, electrical, building services or energy and sustainability discipline, along with related work or project experience.

You will have previous experience of working in a team environment and will be used to setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges.

We also ask that you have a flexible approach to work locations and are genuinely committed to developing a career with us – as we are with you.
