Work on the never done before.

And discover what your brain can really do.

At HMGCC, we overcome challenges through technical excellence and offer unique careers in software and technology. From our high-tech facilities, we craft, design and create one-off products that push technology to its limits. It’s why we offer apprenticeships unlike any other. As an Engineering Apprentice, you’ll be working with systems designers and engineers who are among the finest in their field, and you’ll work with leading-edge technology and equipment.

About the programme

Our three-year Engineering apprenticeship is designed to give you the best start to your career, providing you with the chance to get involved in the whole engineering process. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills and gain experience in a wide range of progressive tech, while also working with forward-looking customers and design engineers. You’ll have the freedom to be creative, and develop the necessary skills to deliver genuine results. And you’ll gain the breadth and depth of experience needed to become a vital part of our future.

Your time will be split between college and on-the-job training at HMGCC. That way, you’ll develop a solid foundation of practical skills and technical knowledge. In fact, the whole apprenticeship is based on blended learning through classroom training, and various mentored work placements. We’ll even fund your membership with a professional organisation such as the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

The future

If you successfully complete your apprenticeship, you’ll achieve a nationally credited L3 Advanced Engineering Manufacture Apprenticeship. This will include either a BTEC L3 Diploma in Engineering or a BTEC L4 HNC in Electrical and Electronic or Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering. You’ll be offered a career at HMGCC as an Engineer Technician, taking either the Electronics or Mechanical Manufacturing pathway. No matter where you find yourself at HMGCC, we’ll continue to invest in the development of your skills and knowledge. In fact, if you have the potential and motivation, you’ll find boundless opportunities to progress.

About you

You’ll come to us with 4 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade A* to C or 9-4, which includes English, maths and science or a technical based subject such as engineering or product design. Alternatively, you’ll have a relevant L2 Intermediate Apprenticeship. A keen interest in engineering is important, demonstrated through your hobbies or projects completed at home or college, and you’ll have good manual dexterity. In addition, you’ll have bags of curiosity and be professional, honest and reliable. And you’ll also be a resourceful thinker; passionate about technology and eager to work with others to achieve your goals.

To unleash the full power of your brain, apply now at our website.

To be considered, you must be a British citizen, over 18 years old by 31st March 2019 and have lived in the UK for eight of the last ten years. In addition, one of your parents must be a British citizen, or have substantial ties to the UK.
