Product Safety Manager
Would you like to play a safety critical role in the development of our most advanced Land UK products and services? We currently have a vacancy for a Product Safety Engineer, based at our sites at either Telford or Washington.
As a Product Safety Manager, you will be planning and delivering a broad range of Safety Engineering activities, in support of the diverse Land UK product and services portfolio.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to build your reputation among senior managers and external customers, in a fast paced and interesting role, working at the forefront of defence technology.
Your main responsibilities as a Product Safety Manager will involve:
Deriving Safety Requirements, including integrity requirements
Developing Safety Management Plans, integrating sub-contractor, supplier and customer interfacing elements
Conducting Safety Assessments, including: Preliminary Hazard Identification and Analysis, System Hazard Analysis, Sub System Hazard Analysis, Functional Safety Assessment, Occupational and Operating Hazard Analysis
Identifying and undertaking the most appropriate techniques such as, Fault Tree Analysis, Failure Mode Effect and Criticality Analysis, Event Tree Analysis
Documenting System level safety arguments, Safety Cases, Safety Reports and ALARP arguments
Reviewing and integrating subcontract safety documents
Managing Hazard Log
Chairing project safety and technical safety review meetings
Ensuring compliance with legislative requirements
Your skills and qualifications:
Essential:
Extensive knowledge of safety management
Experience managing safety through projects, design and development
Degree in an Engineering/ Scientific field, or equivalent experience
Desirable:
Chartered engineer, or working towards
Master's degree in Safety Engineering
Knowledge of:
- Defence and commercial safety standards such as Def Stan 00-056, Def-Stan 00-055, IEC61508;
- Project Oriented Safety Management System (POSMS);
- Project Oriented Environmental Management System (POEMS);
- UK and EU safety related legislation (e.g. Health and Safety at Work Act);
- Environmental legislation and management systems (eg. ISO14001 etc.).
