The Opportunity
 
An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone to join a busy and passionate Facilities Management team to lead the MBDA UK energy management strategy and activities.
 
The Role
 
The successful candidate will be responsible for improved efficiency across the business by evaluating energy use and embedding efficiencies for reducing costs and environmental impact along with enhancing existing energy purchasing strategy including;
  • Support the FM UK Strategy Team in the strategic activities of the FM Department, providing advice on efficiencies for the installation or refurbishment of building facilities and/or new building systems.
  • You will design and manage a five-year CAPEX energy and water consumption saving strategy including alternate energy supply solutions and the purchasing, resilience of supply and future cost scenarios of utilities.
  • Ensure utility billing data and building metering systems are maintained, evaluating and analysing energy use and devising and embedding a robust strategy for reducing costs and environmental impact.
  • You will provide the energy data and energy/water initiative business cases for discussion at various meetings including annual Energy Governance meeting.
  • Overseeing the strategy and deployment of the Building Management System’s (BMS) and ensure environmental control is optimised and waste eliminated.
  • Planning and working collaboratively with the wider business and Estates & Facilities team to develop robust business cases for improvements and to ensure the engagement of good energy management practices.
  • Research and networking - kept abreast of technical advances in the energy field and advise the business of those that could be effective.
  • You will also lead compliance with ISO50001, FiT recoveries and energy legislation, compiling and submitting compliant data.

What are we looking for?
Passion & vision in the field of energy and an engaging communicator.
  • A minimum 2:1 relevant degree level qualification from a leading university in a relevant energy or building engineering related subject or appropriate professional experience.
  • Member of relevant professional bodies (i.e. CIBSE/IEMA/Energy Institute/BIFM) (desired)
  • Demonstrable experience in energy management and engagement across a diverse estate
  • Experience of Building Management Systems (BMS) i.e. Trend, Cylon, Siemens, Schneider Electric etc
  • Numerate, analytical, computer literate - at ease with qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Comfortable working with, and influencing, stakeholders and senior business leaders
  • Good knowledge of financing models for energy management
  • Experience in the procurement of energy & water
  • At least two years of energy consultancy experience in a leading consultancy or equivalent in-house role
  • Good knowledge of governance models for energy management
  • Working knowledge of CMMS/CAFM/CAD and asset management software
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification
