Air Service Safety Lead

Would you like to play a key role supporting the future development of capabilities within the Air Service? We currently have a vacancy for an Air Service Safety Lead at our site in Warton.

As an Air Service Safety Lead, you will be providing safety process guidance to safety engineers during safety assurance and safety certification activities for a wide range of military aerospace ground based hardware, software and service based products. In addition, you will be responsible for reporting on Engineering Safety related training and the effective management of the Air Service Business Continuity activities.

This role will provide you with exposure to senior management and allows for a significant amount of autonomy.

Your main responsibilities as an Air Service Safety Lead will involve:

Working with the Air Service Transformation and Governance Manager and the Senior Engineering Management Team to develop and implement their capability development & improvement programmes

Establishing a 'design for safety' culture within the Air Service and wider BAE Systems stakeholder community (including functional and contract teams)

Providing proactive safety engineering support to Air Service programmes and products

Reviewing safety, environmental and legislation requirements compliance from internal teams and suppliers

Collating multi-product and Services safety evidence in support of overarching System Safety Case development or equivalent for customers

Managing Air Service Business Continuity activities

Your skills and qualifications as an Air Service Safety Lead:

Essential:

Experience in producing Safety Cases at System level, including all primary sub-systems in accordance appropriate standards

Experience in producing compelling system safety arguments and the derivation and setting of appropriate safety criteria/requirements

Demonstrable experience in the application of safety and general purpose toolsets e.g.: FaultTree+, Cassandra and MS Office tools

Safety Engineering or Safety Management qualification

A member of a professional engineering body

Degree within engineering, science or mathematics discipline

Desirable:

Chartered status or working towards

Experience with software development environments and the safety analysis of software functions

Experience in the design and development parts of the lifecycle

Providing and delivering reports into senior functional and business reviews
