We are looking for a Automation Engineer to join our team in Bristol. In this exciting role your knowledge and experience in Composites will help us in becoming a 'centre of competence' positioning Bristol as the hub for Composite activity in the UK. You will have the opportunity to be part of an industrialisation team that will set up CTAL's composite pre-production and production facility on the Rolls-Royce Bristol campus.

You will work in an advanced manufacturing facility at the forefront of developing the next generation of fan blades and fan cases, made of carbon-fibre composite materials, for Rolls-Royce's future aero engines.

Key Accountabilities:

Maintain & support key automated systems within the facility to enable production to continue at all times

Develop, implement, maintain and continuously improve automated manufacturing processes and/or methods of manufacture to ensure they are capable of meeting and continuing to meet requirements for quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time

Implement automated methods to capture and analyse data in order to demonstrate the current and future capability of manufacturing processes

Interface with internal stakeholders (Research & Technology, Design, Process Engineering, Plant Teams, etc), partners and suppliers to ensure technical aspects of manufacturing processes are understood and accounted for as required

Identify and share best practice; capture and utilise lessons learned

Plan and manage activities, communicating current status to relevant stakeholders

Ensure manufacturing processes comply with all legal requirements (regulatory, HS&E, etc) & customer requirements

CTAL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rolls-Royce, currently based on the Isle of Wight. CTAL is a pre-production facility, created to deliver the composite fan system (blades and containment case) capability upon which future civil gas turbine products will depend. Up to 2019, there will be a phased relocation from the current IoW facility to the Bristol Rolls-Royce campus, where CTAL will grow to become the Rolls-Royce composite centre of competence

Qualifications:

Professionally qualified Engineer preferred (UK minimum BSC/BEng degree or other national equivalent)

Experience within automated manufacturing environments with direct experience working with the enabling control systems

General understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to their business

General awareness of Manufacturing Systems (CAD, CAM, CAPP, Manufacturing Execution System, Manufacturing Intelligence, SAP, Technical Publications, etc.) relevant to the business

General awareness of controls system logic, HMI's, robotics, equipment/ process tolerance management, process capability & repeatability, and automated system application code

Understanding of Manufacturing Engineering processes relevant to their role in the product lifecycle including the application of PFMEA & EFMEA
