Technical Authority - Ship Signatures

Would you like to like to play a key role in the design of the new frigates for the Australian Navy? We currently have a vacancy for a Technical Authority - Ship Signatures at our site in either Scotstoun, Filton or Portsmouth.

As a Technical Authority - Ship Signatures, you will be the Signatures & Vulnerability subject matter expert, carrying out a range of modelling activities for the Hunter Class Frigate (HCF) programme for the Australian Navy. You will be responsible for ensuring that design complies with BAE Systems engineering corporate governance and the Mission System Specification functional and performance requirements.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to have a crucial impact on a large international maritime programme, as well as the chance to work with some of the most cutting edge defence technology.

This role will require flexibility around working pattern to meet the needs of the customer.

Your main responsibilities as a Technical Authority - Ship Signatures will involve:

Acting as Technical Authority for signatures, vulnerability and survivability aspects of the HCF including underwater radiated noise, above water radiated noise, radar cross-section, infrared radiation and shock

Supporting the development of functional and performance requirements for HCF

Working closely with the technical authorities and approval authorities to ensure the Naval architecture and transversals teams deliver the required technical quality of outputs

Supporting the design and meeting requisite maturity criteria at design and zonal reviews

Supporting reviews and technical audits of the engineering design documents and data as part of the design assurance process

Arbitrating on whole ship transversal issues; and if not resolvable, bringing these to the attention of the Chief Engineer

Your skills and qualifications as a Technical Authority - Ship Signatures:

Previous experience as subject matter expert in signatures/vulnerability

Naval Ships experience either in build or operating experience
