Engineering Manager - Ship Signatures

Would you like to play a crucial role in the delivery of the new frigates for the Australian Navy? We currently have a vacancy for an Engineering Manager - Ship Signatures at our site in Scotstoun.

As an Engineering Manager - Ship Signatures, you will be responsible for ensuring that the signatures assessment and design are delivered for the Hunter Class Frigate (HCF) programme. You will manage the signatures resources for the project including the delivery of signatures modelling and verification tests, delivering against the HCF design requirements and implementing risk mitigation where required.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to have a crucial impact on a large international maritime programme, as well as the chance to work with some of the most cutting edge defence technology.

This role will require flexibility around working pattern to meet the needs of the customer.

Your main responsibilities as an Engineering Manager - Ship Signatures will involve:

Working with the HCF Engineering Manager - Naval Architecture and Transverse Technical Authority to deliver the HCF Signatures design and analysis activities, preparing for ship build programme and maintaining delivery through the HCF design and build programme

Responsibility for developing and delivering the modelling, validation and verification scope of work and scheduling for all aspects of: shock and shock qualification, underwater radiated noise, above water radiated noise, infrared modelling and radar cross-section modelling

Specifying the signatures analysis and measurement capability requirements for the engineering function to deliver in support of the HCF project

Managing and leading activities of the HCF Signatures Team in support of HCF design and build compliance to the Radar Cross Section (RCS), Infra-Red (IR) , Underwater Radiated Noise (URN) and Airborne Noise requirements

Co-ordinating Signatures Team activities, including delivery of assessment and guidance of equipment, systems, ship integration and implementation to control RCS, IR, URN and airborne noise

Achieving survivability maturity targets for design reviews

Your skills and qualifications as an Engineering Manager - Ship Signatures:

Previous experience in signatures/vulnerability

Naval ships/submarines experience either in build or operating experience

Previous management experience particularly managing sub contract staff preferred

You will possess excellent communication skills, as well as influencing ability to effectively resolve issues and propose solutions to satisfy multiple stakeholders. You must also have proven leadership skills, alongside the ability to motivate and support the team in achieving deadlines.
