Principal Project Engineer

Would you like to play a key support role in our projects team? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Project Engineer at our site in Barrow-In-Furness.

As a Principal Project Engineer, you will be reporting in to the Head of Programme whilst helping out day to day management and support to the running of the programme. This will include elements such as helping deliver contract requirements and milestones; managing the customer reporting on the status of the Boat(s) and any related issues, support to the delivery of customer (MoD) driven contractual changes; finance support to In Year Cash milestone delivery. As part of the role, you will also be expected to be involved in the identification and management of risk and opportunity

This role will provide you with the opportunity to be part of the delivery and value for money of a multi-billion pound project. This will be a highly visible and responsible role with a wide range of stakeholders both internal and external to the company.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Project Engineer will involve:

Managing contract changes

Managing contract requirements

Governance

Liaising with the Customer (MOD)

Reporting on basis of the programme and any key issues that may arise.

Risk and opportunity management

Monthly CAM reviews

Liaising with the Boat build teams

Your skills and qualifications:

Good Understanding of Project Management

Experience of Earn Value Management

Financial awareness

Previous experience of working with customers this could be external or internal and strong stakeholder engagement in general

Previous experience working with schedules

A relevant Project Management qualification would be desirable

You will demonstrate strong communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships. You will need to be able to influence multiple stakeholders and interact confidently with senior management. Strong problem solving skills are key to the success of this role.

Maritime - Submarines
