Bid Manager

We currently have a vacancy for a Bid Manager at our site in Based out of Broad Oak, but travel between Portsmouth Naval Base and Cowes required on occasion.

As a Bid Manager you will responsible for leading the Bid phase, reporting to the Capture Leader. Implements the Bid Management Plan with primary responsibility for Bid governance compliance and coordinating and challenging the cost and price build up.

This role will provide you work closely with the Proposal Manager to ensure the bid team are focused on development of compelling, innovative, class leading proposals and capability documents to meet submission deadlines. The role will be part of the Business Development function under the Head of Business Winning Capability. Bid Managers are allocated to Campaigns and Bids across Maritime Services

Your main responsibilities as a Bid Manager will involve:

Leading all aspects of the planning and execution of the overall bid cycle/governance plan

Managing the bid development in a timely and efficient manner, schedules and oversees key reviews

Defines, tailors and implements a suitable Bid process to fit the Opportunity

Managing the business approval process at all required delegated authority levels, supports any security and export approvals

Leading multi-disciplined Bid team and ensures the entire team is kept appraised of developments in requirements and bid status, on a day to day basis

Interacting with bid stakeholders at all appropriate levels across multiple organisations and keeps the Business Leadership Team informed and engaged, including timely escalation of issues needing resolution

Working closely with the Proposal Manager to ensure the bid plan and the team are focused on development of compelling, innovative, class leading proposals and capability documents to meet submission deadlines

Supporting and promoting Business Development tools e.g. Business Winning Toolkit, Capture Plan Templates

Your skills and qualifications as a Bid Manager:

Comprehensive knowledge of bid/proposal techniques and best practice

Proven skills in producing and editing written content within a complex technical business environment where time, quality, cost and commercial sensitivity are driving factors

Drafting documents for proposal production steps: capture planning, storyboarding, book planning, and proof-reading

Managing the tender documentation to ensure quality of text and formatting consistently through reviews, final proofs, content sign off and document production

Accreditation by the APMP (or equivalent) and experience in the Shipley methodology for proposal production would be beneficial although not essential

Qualified to Degree standard or equivalent (e.g. Business, Communications or English)

Experience within the Defence/Aerospace/Maritime industry
