Training Acquisition Engineer

We currently have a vacancy for a Type 26 Training Acquisition Engineer at one of our sites in Broad Oak, Filton, Scotstoun or Portsmouth Naval Base (PNB)

As a Type 26 Training Acquisition Engineer, you will be leading the specification of procured items, supplier selection and sub-contract management during the bid, development, delivery and support phases of the Type 26 Training Programme to meet customer contractual obligations for cost, quality and timeliness

You will be responsible for ensuring the Type 26 Training Solutions derived by the Training Analysis Engineering Team are formalised into work packages which can be effectively sub-contracted and then leading the management of these sub-contracts to ensure delivery and acceptance of the associated products and services

Your main responsibilities as a Training Acquisition Engineer will involve:

Supporting the Type 26 Training Acquisition and Engineering Manager in the development of new policies, processes, tools and approaches required to develop innovative and creative acquisition specifications / contracts and the subsequent delivery of work packages and/or services

Leading the development of technical specifications for the procurement of Training articles required for all new Type 26 Training Solutions

Managing Training specific subcontracts, in collaboration with the Supply Chain team to ensure all new Type 26 Training Solutions are integrated, safe, fully compliant and delivered within agreed requirements for cost, quality, time and schedule

Acting as the formal interface between the Training Acquisition Team and the Type 26 Naval Ships / Warship Support Supply Chain and Procurement Teams

Providing Training technical support and input into Supplier competitions in collaboration with the Supply Chain Team, including tender evaluation and down select

Ensuring the development of Training Solutions are clearly defined, integrated, configured, controlled and delivered

Your skills and qualifications as a Training Acquisition Engineer:

The principles and practicalities in the acquisition of systems, equipment, training and support

Expertise in preparing sub-contract packs comprising detailed technical specifications and contractual terms

Experience in the design, development, acceptance and risks associated with engineering new Training products and services

Communicates complex acquisition plans, risks and issues effectively, verbally and in writing

Flexible mobility as travel is required to Type 26 sites and suppliers

An understanding of BAE systems lifecycle management (LCM) - Desirable

An understanding of Royal Navy (RN) Manpower and Training domains - Desirable

An understanding of a Systems Approach to Training and Education - Desirable

An understanding of Procurement and Supply train domain - Desirable

Location: Broad Oak, Filton, Scotstoun, Portsmouth Naval Base (can be based at any of these sites)
