Job Details

Two Group Leaders are required to play important roles in the realisation of the future vision of Diamond Light Source, one of the most advanced scientific facilities in the world. Our organisation houses the UK’s synchrotron light source, a giant microscope that can produce beams of light 10 billion times brighter than the sun, to probe the structure and composition of matter. From viruses and vaccines, to alternative energy solutions and nanotechnology, it underpins research and innovation for more than 8000 scientists, with over 90 research organisations already utilising its unique services.

Development of synchrotron technology proceeds at a blistering, relentless pace and requires cutting edge software and electronics solutions to facilitate this critical work. With ever increasing needs, it is essential that we enhance our data acquisition and electronic systems solutions to fully support both current and future needs.

We are searching for:

  • An IT Leader with extensive experience in developing and supporting scientific software, ideally in a distributed environment.
  • An Electronics Systems Leader with extensive experience in developing and supporting electronics solutions in a scientific environment; across control systems, precision motion systems and, interlocking and protection.

Each role will see you carrying out aspects of staff management, project management, and giving leadership to meet overall business objectives. In the wider sense, you’ll work with Engineers and Scientists in order to establish performance requirements and support the operation of the facility.

For further information on either vacancy, please visit our careers page:

Closing date: 29 November 2018.
