Mechanical Engineer

Would you like to be part of a varied team working on new and existing products within ammunitions? We currently have a vacancy for a Mechanical Engineer at our site in Radway Green.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be working on new products, existing products and improving processes. You will be assigned to a sub team of the engineering team in which you will be dedicated to looking at process effectiveness, safety and innovation of those processes.

You will have exposure to the day to day running of a large manufacturing facility within munitions.

Your main responsibilities as a Mechanical Engineer will involve:

Developing the product Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) documents to identify safety critical product features for Small Arms Ammunition

Leading a team of engineers, technicians and operators in the development of Process Control Trilogy documentation (Process FMEA, Process Control Plan, Process Flow Diagram) to identify all production process steps, along with current control and failure detection methods, used in the manufacture of Small Arms Ammunition

Identifying, agreeing and executing potential process improvements to benefit safety, cost, quality and delivery - including the development and presentation of business cases for capital expenditure projects

Preparing technical documentation including reports, procurement and requirement specifications

Taking ownership, prioritise and manage tasks to ensure their completion within the agreed timescales and to the required standard

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Degree (Hons) or Apprenticeship and BTEC (HND/HNC) or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering

Knowledge of manufacturing processes

Mechanical design/product development experience

Desirable:

Experience of FMEA

Ability to lead and coach all operators and technicians working on product safety improvement activities

Proven track record in high volume manufacturing engineering and have a good working knowledge of; manufacturing process control, OEE/continuous improvements, problem solving techniques, quality control systems, and elimination of waste, poka-yoke, standardisation, benchmarking, kaizen, and visualisation standards within a large organisation

Ability to implement engineering projects that have delivered benefits on cost, quality, delivery and safety

We are looking for you to have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with a variety of different people at various levels within the business. You will be diligent and thorough in your approach to your work. You will also have the ability to lead and coach all operators and technicians working on product safety improvement activities.

Location: Radway Green

Salary: £32,285+ (commensurate with skills and experience)
