Lead Hardware Engineer

Would you like to be part of a management team? We currently have a vacancy for a Lead Hardware Engineer at our site in Rochester.

As a Lead Hardware Engineer, you will be expected to have a robust and demonstrable understanding of both product design and work package control, which will ensure all lifecycle aspects are correctly addressed together with the associated trades made, in doing so.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to be part of the technical leadership of a dedicated expert team responsible for the design lifecycle of our electronic solutions for products such as Helmet Mounted & Head-up Display, Mission Computing, Flight Control, Active Inceptor and other associated safety critical technology.


Your main responsibilities as a Lead Hardware Engineer will involve:

Technology identification & reuse strategies

Model definition and requirements management

Functional partitioning & configuration management

Circuit design & schematic capture as well as design analysis

Commissioning & integrating

Verification &validation including EMC & environmental


Your skills and qualifications as a Lead Hardware Engineer:

Experience of design and identifying improvements to working practices and team skill development

Experience of working collaboratively with other disciplines, within an integrated team to optimise solutions and minimise impacts from dependencies

Experience of timescales and budgets

Demonstrate experience and knowledge of risk and opportunities management


What we're looking for in you:

You will be self-starter, capable of managing your own work and the output of others, including skills development of a large team of mixed capability engineers.
You will have good coaching skills, with the ability to peer review and technically guide the work of others.
You will be confident and able to build relationships with suppliers and customers.


Salary: £57,000 +

Location: Rochester
