Project Manager - Engineering

Would you like to work on hugely complex commercial and military projects within Electronic Intelligence and Support? We currently have a vacancy for a Project Manager - Engineering at our site in Rochester, Kent.

As a Project Manager - Engineering, you will be reporting into directly to the Product Director and working with our key stakeholders such as; Senior Management, suppliers, customers and a multi-functional team.

This role will provide you with working on a small portfolio of projects with a rough estimate of £20Million in value along with managing a small team of project managers.

Some travel will be required to various sites and globally on an adhoc basis.

Your main responsibilities as a Project Manager - Engineering will involve:

Developing and maintaining a detailed project plan that embraces all elements of the project

Implementing and utilising Earned Value Management methodologies when appropriate

Driving ownership of Work Packages and tasks throughout the project team

Managing the project or bid to ensure all milestones and objectives are achieved

Using project management techniques, to enable early identification of problems and implementation of mitigation actions

Achieving the agreed project cost, sales, margin and cash flow targets

Managing a small multi-functional team

Your skills and qualifications as a Project Manager - Engineering:

Experience of Earned Value Management methodologies

Using project management techniques, to enable early identification of problems and implementation of mitigation actions

Proven experience of developing and maintaining excellent customer relations

Ideally experience in Aerospace and defence business

Developing and maintaining a detailed project plan that embraces all elements of the project

Managing the project or bid to ensure all milestones and objectives are achieved

Demonstrated ability to make decisions with clarity in an environment of ambiguity & uncertainty

Broad cross functional business experience would be desirable

Proven Track record in delivery of a Development Program

Experience of mentoring and coaching would be beneficial

Educated to degree level or equivalent - business or engineering desirable

A formal project management qualification (e.g. APMP, PMQ, PMP or Prince 2)

You will have the proven ability to motivate, influence, and manage people effectively and have the ability to develop and maintain excellent customer relations.

You will have strong well-rounded business knowledge with focus on the customer.

Location: Rochester, Kent

Salary: £54,000+ Commensurate with experience
