Vibration Systems Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for a Vibrations Systems Engineer, based at Bishopton. Reporting to the Environmental Testing Facility (ETF) Manager, you will be part of a multi-skilled team of engineers & technicians ensuring maintenance is completed safely, within cost, time-scale and to BAE processes / procedures. This role will be responsible for assisting the ETF Manager with Governance, Engineering, Management, Maintenance and SHE tasks related to all
Vibration Systems at the Environmental Test Facility (ETF).

This role will involve deputising for the Facilities Manager as and when required.


Your main responsibilities as a Vibrations Systems Engineer will involve:

  • Ensure all vibration systems are operational for the Project Trial Teams.
  • Technical responsibility for Planned Maintenance on all vibration systems and ensure duties are carried out in accordance with the SAP maintenance system.
  • Continuous improvement of activities within the scope of the Facilities team.
  • Responsibility for all auxiliary equipment relating to vibrations systems, with in depth knowledge of hydraulics & pneumatics.
  • Responsible for inspection of entire system and able to fault find & problem solve in the event of a breakdown..
  • PC literate and able to use Microsoft Office applications including MS Project, Data Physics Vibration and Shock control software and Specview data logging software.
  • Experience in Dynamic Testing including vibration and mechanical shock theory, accelerometer use, signal processing and practical vibration and shock testing.
  • Responsibility for sourcing / ordering of all spare part required for the vibration systems.
  • To manage the development & training of ETF Trials Engineers & Technicians.
  • Supervision of all ETF Trials Engineers & Technicians during operation / setup of the vibration systems to ensure all working to a safe system of work.
  • Responsible for the control and monitoring vibration system performance.
  • Compliance with the requirements of SHE legislation for self and others.

Your skills and qualifications as a Vibration Systems Engineer will include:

  • Qualified to a minimum of HNC (or equivalent) in a Mechanical Engineering discipline
  • Proven experience of working with Vibration Systems
  • Knowledge of climatic & refrigeration required as part of vibration system setup
  • Understanding of the requirements of a quality system meeting the requirements of ISO 9001 and ISO 17025.
