Are you an experienced Control & Instrumentation Technician with a passion for working on large scale, complex systems?
Do you have a background in electrical and electronic systems design and build, ideally with a relevant degree or minimum of an HNC?
Do you have substantial knowledge and industry experience working with and operating technically sophisticated plant?
The UK Atomic Energy Authority have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join their team within the Heating and Fuelling department. The team consists of circa 14 employees working on both the JET and MAST Neutral Beam facilities and is responsible for ensuring that both facilities are efficiently operated, maintained, faults rapidly identified and remedied and are continuously developed to meet future requirements.
Key accountabilities/responsibilities include:
-Operator of the JET and MAST neutral beam injectors. This includes full responsibility for safe operation, investigation of alarms, diagnosis and rectification of faults.
-Responsible for the design, assembly, testing and commissioning of C&I modules, including the production of reports and updating of documentation.
-Responsible for further developing some sub-systems and responding to demands of operations where upgrades and modifications may be urgently required. Authoring, production and upkeep of technical documents, reports, diagrams and drawings is also required.
-Responsible for leading and acting on own initiative in the wiring of new systems in cubicles, installation of cables, fibre terminations.

Knowledge skills and experience
Essential
-minimum of an HNC or equivalent in electrical or electronic engineering or similar suitable discipline
-experience of electrical and electronic systems, data acquisition cards and theory, including a good understanding of safety principles and current guidelines
-good written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable
-Basic knowledge of dome of the following: Digital/Analog Electronics; PLC and SCADA systems; National-Instruments systems (cRIO, PXI), FPGAs, PCB design ASSY
-proven drawings skills, mainly electrical but some mechanical knowledge would be advantageous
Special requirements:
- some casual shift work (06:30 to 14:45 or 14:15 to 22:30)
- occasional work at height (training provided)
- non-classified radiation worker (training provided)
