AJAX Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Team Engineer

The Role:

• Deputise for the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Team Manager when required.
• Focus on incident investigation and RCA during reliability growth trials on AJAX programme
• Work with the Reliability team to mature the DRACAS and RCA process
• Work with the vehicle Chief Engineers and Functional Leads to determine Failure Modes and reliability relevance of DRACAS incidents
• Work with external Customers and Stakeholders to confirm that the reliability sentencing and Failure Modes are being consistent
• Work with key supplier, General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS), Lockheed Martin (LMUK) and Thales to support Joint Incident Review Boards (IRB) and incident sentencing
• Support the DRACAS Manger with root cause analysis
• Support the DRACAS Manager with preparation for and attendance at Incident Sentencing Committees (ISC)
• Support the RGT Planning Manager with preparation of the RGT Plans

Responsibilities:

• Gather forensic evidence when incidents arise during vehicle trials
• Prepare plans for incident investigation, which require instrumentation and additional trials
• Assign incidents to failure modes and establish root cause of failure modes
• Attend daily and weekly internal ISC
• Work with the vehicle Chief Engineers and Functional Leads to prepare for and attend formal ISC with Customer and external stakeholders
• Support preparation of the RGT Spares Plan
• Support RGT Planning Manager to update and maintain the AJAX reliability plans
• Preparation of material for internal and external review and presentation
• Effectively communicate updates to the RCA Team Manager

Education/Experience:

• A proven track record of complex system integration, test and acceptance programmes
• Experience of engineering platform designs against performance and reliability targets
• Experience of military vehicle systems
• Ability to liaise with, and present information to, multi-disciplined and multi-national team members
• Excellent presentation, verbal and written skills
• Willing to travel extensively within UK and Europe
• Good team working abilities
• Ability to communicate at senior levels
• A relevant or associated degree to the role such as Engineering, Mathematics or Physics, or demonstrated relevant work experience
• A strong background in defence systems engineering
• Familiarity with current British Army tracked and wheeled vehicles
• Familiar with relevant Defence Standards, Military Standards and EC Directives
