MBDA are looking for an experienced Information Systems professional who is looking to develop a specialism. The role will be part of a Centre of Competence for MBDA’s flagship group “MatriX ALM” solution for collaborative engineering. The MatriX toolset provides a common Engineering working environment, which enables improved access to information and collaboration across functional and national boundaries - supporting our model based design approach. ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) is one part of the MatriX toolset. MatriX is live in the main MBDA National Companies: France, Italy and the UK with parts of ALM also in Germany.

The Role
  • This international role is based around the Collaboration Lifecycle Management tools in the Jazz Team Services (JTS) framework from IBM including :Rational Team Concert (RTC); Doors Next Generation (DNG); Rational Quality Manager (RQM).
  • Acting as the group-wide integrator, the role will develop the technical design, configuration standards as well as the installation standards of all ALM instances of the MatriX Hubs and segregated network installations across the international group working with the national company information management technical leads. MatriX Hub is the collective term for the federated toolsets as deployed on each of the networks in each nation.
  • A key responsibility is developing with the business capability teams the future roadmap for the tools including further integration into MatriX ALM of other IBM applications including Rhapsody; continued development of the connection to the MatriX Space collaboration and meta-data search environment; and wider integration with the MatriX Product Lifecycle Management tool (PLM). The role will be instrumental in the elicitation of requirements from a wide spectrum of business and engineering functions, distinguishing strategic needs vs. operational needs vs. aspirations and then the specification, installation of sandbox/proof of concept environments to enable proving and validation of the technical, functional and operational solutions.
  • You will assist with the creation of the ALM Centre of Competence (CoC) setting up true international working for consultation, upgrades,2nd&3rd line support, looking to exploit new possibilities that the International WAN and security allows and working closely with the business capability teams. This role will build the Information Management function’s relationship with IBM and IBM partners with which we work.
  • You will be the focal point for the development of the specification of all the system technical needs for the solution working with the integration and implementation teams in each MBDA national company, taking into account the business needs for the ecosystem. This includes maintaining a reference baseline standard in the UK for all other instances and for proposing and implementing improvements on the tools and processes.

What’s in it for you?
  • You will influence managers and other stakeholders across the international company.
  • You will be able to contribute to the strategy and future direction of the MatriX ALM toolset and demonstrate that the tool set can be expanded and integrated to cover all the needs, recommending and building the business case as appropriate. The opportunity is to become the group wide design authority for the ALM toolset.
  • You have the opportunity to prompt further integration with the group teams as part of the group ALM CoC, bring new ideas for thinking globally whilst respecting local conditions especially where new business units become connected to the solution.
  • You will travel to one or more of the MBDA location including France, Italy, Germany to work with the Matrix Group team
  • With the right background and experience, training courses and time will be provided to complete the knowledge in all of the relevant applications.

What’s great about the team?
You will be joining at the beginning of a new phase after the initial deployments as we plan the full exploitation of the MatriX ALM solution and the future roadmap.  The current teams within Information Management and engineering capability have a diverse range of skills which provides an excellent platform for collaboration and knowledge transfer.

What are we looking for?

Experienced in installation and configuration of packages in a virtual machine Windows server and desktop “high security” environment. Experienced in use of SQL, Active Directory. • You must have the ability to technically coordinate internal and sub-contract activities as well as, when required, to undertake the task directly. Experience in working with international teams an advantage.
  • Good presentation and influencing skills are important with a determination and desire to succeed in order to influence managers and other stakeholders across the company.
  • The MBDA international business language is English but the ability to speak another language is useful, especially French.

What would you get?
