With a global market covering dozens of countries, Mini-Cam (www.minicam.co.uk) is a high technology, industry-leading designer and manufacturer of specialised closed-circuit TV underground pipe inspection systems. Everything in our extensive product portfolio is designed by Mini-Cam R&D team and is manufactured by us in-house. To cope with with significant business success and growing demands from the industry, we are expanding our R&D department.

This is an exciting opportunity to share in the challenges of our small close-knit R&D team, and to take on significant responsibilities for the specification, overall electrical/electronics system, schematic design, PCB layout, prototype manufacture and verification test of all the electronics within our range of advanced pipeline video inspection products.

The Role
A hands-on, all-encompassing key engineering position of significant responsibility.
Ideas, concepts, and blue-sky thinking for current and future products.
Capture of requirements and specification of functionality.
Analogue and digital, schematic design, capture, simulation, multilayer PCB layout.
Prototype test, and design of bespoke Manufacturing and Service test / verification equipment.
First-point-of-contact engineering support to other company areas.
Ensure EMC and legal compliance.

As well as supporting existing products, this is very much a forward-looking role, with deep involvement in design of our future next-generation innovative product suite.

Experience
The candidate should be able to demonstrate, through examples, their experience in:

Products lifecycle from initial concept through to production.
Complex analogue / digital / PSU schematics and multilayer PCB (300+ components).
Power supply design – buck, boost, flyback and SEPIC topologies.
Familiarity with range of microcontrollers – 8bit to 32bit.
Schematic capture CAD systems.
Analogue circuit simulation.
Design for manufacturability.
Good problem solving approach.
Working in a multidisciplined team.

Package
Competitive salary is related to experience.

Employees are eligible to join the company pension scheme to which the company matches employee contributions up to 3% of annual salary.  Holiday is 25 days annual leave plus statutory Bank Holidays (with 3 or 4 days annual leave saved for Christmas shutdown).
