With a global market covering dozens of countries, Mini-Cam (www.minicam.co.uk) is a high technology, industry-leading designer and manufacturer of specialised closed-circuit TV underground pipe inspection systems. Everything in our extensive product portfolio is designed by Mini-Cam R&D team and is manufactured by us in-house. To cope with with significant business success and growing demands from the industry, we are expanding our R&D department.

The software complexity of our products ranges from a few hundred lines in an 8 bit embedded microcontroller, up to 300K+ lines in a bespoke multi-micro distributed "Embedded PC" system. All designed in-house.

This is an exciting opportunity to join and share in the challenges of our small close-knit R&D team in Warrington, and to take on significant responsibilities for the specification, software architecture, and software engineering within our range of advanced pipeline video inspection products.

The Role

An interesting hands-on, all-encompassing key engineering position of significant responsibility.

Ideas, concepts, and blue-sky thinking for current and future products.

Capture of requirements, and specification of functionality.

Real-time embedded control system software engineering for a wide range of digital video products.

First-point-of-contact engineering support to other company areas.

Exciting Future

As well as supporting existing products, this is very much a forward-looking role, with deep involvement in design of our future next-generation innovative product suite.

And in addition to design of embedded software, this role is planned to evolve into an opportunity to explore and develop connectivity and cloud based systems.

Experience

You should be able to demonstrate, through examples, experience such as:

Products lifecycle from initial concept through to production.

Development of complex real-time embedded closed-loop control system software for mainstream microcontrollers.

Expert in C language. Some familiarity with, or expert in, C++ and object oriented design.

Use of debugging / emulation tools.

Understand schematics of digital / analogue hardware.

Good problem solving approach.

Working in a multidisciplined team.

Package

Competitive salary is related to experience.

Employees may join the company pension scheme (company matches up to 3%). Holidays are 25 days annual plus statutory.
